Finally, after such a long trip, Noora is here.
She was fun to make, and an experience in a way, in trying to match the original doll, and failing somewhat. Therefore this one is a sister for Dora.
If I am truthful, I really wasn't too worried of the look, just the eyes, and when I had made about 5 pairs I finally said that's it, these eyes must go on the face. Krazy Klue is wicked, if you are not careful, you might not get things straight. I still have some glue on my fingers.
Noora is very soft and huggable. She stands 18" tall. I am pretty pleased with the end result. I used Acrylic yarn and washable stuffing. The whole doll is washable. The bracelet is the only thing that comes out. Oh, and the pant/dress and jacket, of course.

Noora is just too cute! I'm sure some little girl will love her to pieces.
Sherri, Thank You. She fell in love with it immediately.
Patrice, Thank you! She is cute, I must admit.
Janet, Thank you! My granddaughter got the doll and she loves it a lot.
Soooo cute!!
I stumbled across your page as I was googling for a friend who is looking for a knit pattern to make a Dora doll for her daughter.
I would appreciate any advice you could offer on this. Did you use a particular doll pattern as a jumping off point? Is there a website or a book that I could direct my friend to? She is new at knitting, and isn't comfortable with free-forming quite yet.
I would appreciate your input. Please respond to the email address listed if you are able to assist my search.
That doll is absolutely adorable--both of them!
Hi, Hillary,
I am so sorry, but I am not able to give you a pattern as I didn't have one.
However,
For starters, you could do the body parts as follows:
legs: using 20 stitches knit stockinette for about 7",
body: using 42 stitches, knit stockinette, for about 5" and then decrease for the shoulders.
I have to think how I did that.
arms: use 15 stitches and knit about 7"
If you can find a basic doll pattern, you can use that, and just use the colors that would make the doll look like Dora.
I printed the face of the doll from an internet picture, and made eyes, nose and mouth with craft felt.
The eyes were most difficult to do, and one doll has crocheted eyes.
I hope this helps.
P.S. I could not email this to you because there was no link for your mail.
