Friday off work

It's a sunny looking day, and the wind is hugging the trees.
I am off work today, needed some time to think about things, and finish off
the FreeForm crochet project for the Annual Challenge for International Freeform Fiberart Guild.

We now have two cats, Merlin, who came first, and then Missy, who arrived February 14th this year.

This one is Missy, the wicked one.  Merlin looks on, I love that picture, actually both of these.  The personality of both shows well in these pictures.

I also made two hats,

 We had a weird winter, long and cold, lots of snow and it kept the spring waiting.  But now it looks like we have warmer weather around us, at least in our area.
This snow came on the 15th of April this year (2014).

I had also made a doll for a baby who was born late 2013.  There is no pattern for this doll, I am sorry.

It's done with stash yarns, and using my imagination and creative fluids.

This Shawl is for me, I think it's one of my favourites.  I used Koigu yarns, and the pattern is from here.

I have always been crazy about Karelian pies. I decided to try my skills on them, and they

looked like this before going into the oven.  I tried, well, I think next time I have the urge to eat a pie,

I will buy them, if I can catch them in a Finnish bakery here.  

Don't they look as homemade Karelian Pies?  They were not too bad, but I had made a few baking
mistakes, and that is the reason they were not those yummy ones I have eaten before.

There will be more posts in the future, as I might have more time to finish some knit and crochet projects.

March sneaked in

Moby Betta Fish is happy, I put a two-sided mirror outside his bowl, and now he's playing with the image, and sometimes going into hiding in his little house that I had put inside the bowl.

He is supposed to have one little food thing per day, but he is having nothing of that foolish rule.

He jumps up and down when he sees me taking the food container, sometimes getting so excited that he makes the water move so much that the food sails where he has to catch it. Sometimes he doesn't see it, and I have to show it with my finger, and he does follow my guide. He's not just a fish, he's a funny clown. Very difficult to take a good picture of him, as soon as he sees the camera, he thinks it's play time, or fighting time (he is a fighting fish), and moves constantly.

I have been busy knitting and crocheting I even made one drawing. How is that being creative every day? I think posting about it is harder than actually being busy with the needles, hooks, or pens.

It's Saturday and there are many chores that need done. I wanted to wish everyone a great weekend, and don't forget to change the clock in the morning. Losing one hour is not a good thing, when one is busy working or creating. (or doing dishes)

Christmas 2007

I have not been in a very festive mood this Christmas time. We don't even have our tree up. I bought a small potted fir from a grocery store, and put some little decorations on it. The tree does not have any lights on it, and it's just as well.

The kids are coming for dinner tomorrow afternoon. We will have turkey and the trimmings, just as if it was still Christmas. I still have to wrap the presents, but don't have too much paper, because I thought I had leftovers from last year, but didn't. So, we have to go to the store in the morning just to get the dang paper, and then wrap whatever I have for the kids. Kids= DS, DIL, DGD, DGS.

I've cleared my work area from my knitting clutter, and hope that when I need something I'll remember where everything is. This will not happen, I know from experience. You see, I do my crafts at the dining table and little by little more and more stuff is brought in to work with, so sometimes there is hardly any room to move around the table.

I worked like a madwoman to get my hubby's vest done, before Christmas. I finished it on the 23rd. I had plans to go and visit my friends at Purple Purl, but I was glued to my chair, and knitting needles.

Then was time for cooking and baking. Baking? I have not done too much baking in recent years, but this time I got inspired because a friend of mine was telling how she was going to make this and that, cookies, cakes and coffee bread. Of course I had to make some too, because I was thinking of the nice smell in our home when something was baking in the oven.
I also finished my granddaughter's pullover and sweater. Pullover needed finishing the seams, and the sweater needed buttons.


Granddaughter has a favorite doll, and I made a mattress and a blanket for a basket that I had bought just for the doll.

Well, now my fingers are sore, and tingling, but I finished almost everything I wanted to finish. Except socks for Ravelry November mystery, but I still have until the 31st to get them done. I am almost finished with socks for my hubby, but he was so happy with his new vest that he said he could wait for the socks. He has to. I am not knitting those this week. I'll finish the mystery socks first.
